Old Engines Click and Clack at Port Jeff Harvest Festival

Clicking, clacking, roaring and spurting, an array of antique engines - some around a hundred years old - were brought to Port Jefferson during the annual Harvest Festival on Sunday courtesy of the Long Island Antique Power Association.

Tumbling barrels, turning a ferris wheel and doing all sorts of jobs that in days gone by might have seemed as astounding as the iPhone seems today in automating tasks and freeing up time for other things (like inventing more and better machines!)

The largest of the machines was a giant rescued from an East End ice factory. Some of the smallest cutely sputtered along at knee height. For more information about the Long Island Antique Power Association check out the website here.
