The Roe House on West Main Street serves double duty. First, it's the home of the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, an organization that consists of businesses operating in Port Jefferson with the common goal of helping to make the town the best place on the Island for consumers to shop locally. They hold monthly meetings to network and discuss issues relating to doing business in Port Jefferson. They also sponsor some major events in town including the annual Easter Parade and Easter Egg Hunt, Santa Parade and Holiday Tree Lighting, A Taste of Port Jefferson and a Health and Wellness Expo among others. In general, they help to foster the best environment possible for shop owners and consumers in Port Jefferson. The other function of the Roe House is as a defacto Visitor Center. The little cottage is located near Port Jefferson Marina and the Port Jeff Ferry and sits near the edge of downtown. People coming off the water or driving into town can stop into the Roe House to pick up maps and information about everything going on in Port Jefferson as well as get a list of merchants and things to do, eat and see in town.
