This situation is getting out of hand. It seems that a week can't go by without another burglaryRead More taking place in the area of Mt Sinai. What is it going to take for the police to to realize that something is going on here? Could there be a step up in daytime patrols in the area? This is obviously the work of kids on drugs. Stealing cooper fittings is what junkies use to do back in the 70's and 80's. Stealing video consoles! You don't have to be a detective to figure this one out. This is becoming all to common in this hard working community. Hey SCPD! what do you say and try and be pro active in an area that is being hit pretty regularly with reports of burglary. This is what we pay our taxes for, for you to provide some kind of protection to homeowners. All were asking is to step up patrols in the area.

Does this case demonstrate the need to amend § 160.203 of HIPAA so as to put elder abuse on anRead More equal footing with child abuse when it comes to enabling the states to enact laws needed to protect their citizens against abuse? This section of HIPAA currently provides the following (Source: HIPAA Administrative Simplification, page 7, http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/administrative/privacyrule/adminsimpregtext.pdf) "A standard, requirement, or implementation specification adopted under this subchapter that is contrary to a provision of State law preempts the provision of State law. This general rule applies, except if one or more of the following conditions is met: ... (c) The provision of State law, including State procedures established under such law, as applicable, provides for the reporting of disease or injury, child abuse, birth, or death, or for the conduct of public health surveillance, investigation, or intervention." A proposed amendment would merely add “elder abuse” as follows "A standard, requirement, or implementation specification adopted under this subchapter that is contrary to a provision of State law preempts the provision of State law. This general rule applies, except if one or more of the following conditions is met: ... (c) The provision of State law, including State procedures established under such law, as applicable, provides for the reporting of disease or injury, child abuse, elder abuse, birth, or death, or for the conduct of public health surveillance, investigation, or intervention."

Same thing happened to my husband. I took a picture of a bed sore and reported it to NYSDOH. TheRead More hospital installed 3 security camera's in his room. Stopped my visits for about 6 weeks because I took a picture of a crime and reported. They punish my husband for my advocacy and no one will lift a finger to stop it. Or better yet his cohort DelRio, whose younger brother did not fall far from the tree either. TheRead More police said they cannot stand him but he gets out all the time. It is a few bad people ruining the area.

This news is very disturbing, particularly the incident on Vidoni Drive, which has been the scene ofRead More a rash of burglaries only some months ago. These areas are being targeted during broad daylight hours when occupants are at their jobs and the homes are not occupied. Police need to step up daytime patrols in these areas during daytime hours, An investment in a home security system is becoming a must unfortunately.
Judy Brown May 7, 2013 at 12:56 pm
Burglaries and Home invasions are increasing rapidly. These thugs know that there is less of aRead More chance getting caught burglarizing a home then robbing businesses. So stay safe, be vigilant, install deadbolts and keep alarm activated. If you don't have an alarm system try the United States Security Company Directory or USSCD for great affordable home security options.

WHAT WAS NOT REPORTED IN THE TANGER OUTLET GRAND LARCENY STORY WAS THAT ALL FOUR DEFENDANTS WERERead More ILLEGALS FROM MEXICO AND THAT TWO OF THEM HAD OUTSTANDING WARRANTS ISSUED BY I.C.E. THEIR INTERPRETER IS ASKING FOR LEGAL AID ATTORNEYS TO REPRESENT THEM WHILE THEY ARE INCARCERATED AT THE COUNTY JAIL. WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR THE POLICE, COURTS, LAWYERS, TIME SPENT IN CONFINEMENT AND THE BUSINESS ITSELF. YOUR RIGHT, SUFFOLK COUNTY TAXPAYERS AND YOU WONDER WHY OUR JAIL IS OVER CROWDED. OUR POLITICANS BETTER WAKE UP, IMMIGRATION REFORM IS NOT WORKING TO BENEFIT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Too bad the pinko liberals in the Suffolk Legislature got their way, and prevents the PD from askingRead More about "immigration status" and noting it when arrests are made. Good bet these 2 dirt bags are here illegally.

Bryan I emailed him WEEKs ago, right after Roamanie announced the crackdown on the overcrowdedRead More housing in the town, never heard a word back. Not surprised, they never reply to anything. If I contributed money to his re-election I guess I would get a reply.

Just a heads up, Earl. I did email Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld a couple weeks ago to see if I could getRead More some help speeding up police response to the endless goddamn ATV noise. Someone from his office forwarded my email to the 6th, who said they would task COPE to our area. The next day all the computers in the Fiore-Rosenfeld office were confiscated due to a violation of election laws.
Earl May 13, 2013 at 02:19 pm
Sad thing is, the cops are not going to tell them to leave. I wrote a few times to the Sgt listedRead More in this story, and the reponses I received seemed more like someone running for office than trying to clean up the streets. They say they want to help, and have asked (via the survey everyone should have filled out and sent in already) what we think the problems are, but they don't seem to be able to do anything. The cops dont seem to think, or at least will not say outright, that the homeless shelter is a big problem here. I would love to just copy and paste my entire response, but I will not. More people need to email the address that is on that survey, and need to email the local do nothing politicians. Maybe if they all get inundated with angry letters they will actually have to do something.

Wow another drug bust at Sunoco. Wonder if the station knows this is going on there and/or are evenRead More involved in it. Obviosuly this is one of the known drug deal spots. Really needs to be harsher penalties for drug abuse/dealing.

There's actually stuff of value in that thing? I always just thought it was a decaying structure onRead More the side of the road filled with boxes of old holiday decorations. How did no one notice a group of people vandalizing something at the busiest intersection in the entire area? I've been stuck in traffic there at 3 AM with nothing to do but stare at this stupid train car and wonder what's in it.

Another scam people should be aware of is this fake DEA scam call. Based on the complaints posted atRead More http://www.callercenter.com , the scammers call victims who may have previously purchased drugs over the lnternet and identify themselves as DEA agents. The scammers then inform their victims that buying drugs over the internet is illegal and that legal action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine. In most cases, the scammers instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer. If the victims refuse to send money, the scammers often threaten to arrest them or search their property.
