The Port Jefferson School District's Athletic Department manages the physical education and sports programs for all…More three schools in the district. The elementary school physical education program follows all New York State Standards and the AAPHERD National Standards. The Middle and High School sports have adapted the Board of Regents regulations for competition. Their Selection/Classification Program encourages student participation in sports based on maturity and skills rather than just age.</p> <p>The school has a full range of facilities including a swimming pool at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School, the only elementary school on Long Island with its own pool. Port Jefferson School District sports teams compete under the name the Royals and their colors are purple and white.</p>
