Corner Copia Cafe Finds a Bounty In Port Jeff

Foot traffic is steadily increasing at a new Port Jefferson deli, said its co-owner.

Tom Caffrey opened the Corner Copia Cafe with family and friends on May 11 at 109 West Broadway.

"Traffic has been very good here and everyone has complimented our food," Caffrey said. "It's picked up quite a bit since school let out."

A top menu item has been the Jasper, a sandwich with chicken cutlet, mozzarella, bacon, coleslaw and Russian dressing on garlic bread.

Caffrey attributed the cafe's early success to doing his homework.

"A month before I came here I walked around town and heard everyone, other business owners saying,'There's no deli'," he said.
