Village Parks Renamed for Port Jefferson Public Officials
Village board honors former mayor Jeanne Garant and former trustee Joe Erland.
Harborfront Park has now been officially renamed as "Mayor Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park" and the Caroline Avenue baseball field has now been officially renamed "Joe Erland Field," according to a report published Thursday in The Port Times Record.
The newspaper reported that the Port Jefferson village board voted at a recent board meeting to honor Garant, a former village trustee who later served as mayor from 1999 to 2005, and to honor Erland, a longtime fire commissioner and former village trustee who passed away eight months ago.
