5 Things to Know: Ways to Keep the Kids Busy

Free bowling, free food, free movies? Entertaining them should come easy.

Back to school is right around the corner, which means there are only a few more weeks to keep the kids entertained with summer activities.

So, before time runs out, here are five things you can do together.

1. Port Jefferson Village Center on Tuesday will show Disney’s “Tangled” as part of its series. The lights go down at dusk.

2. Kids like books and parents like sales. Prices at Borders Booksellers in Lake Grove are up to 50 percent off as the chain preps to close its doors for good. Hey, there’s still time to pile one more book on their summer reading lists.

3. Meanwhile, across the street at the Barnes & Noble, which isn’t going out of business, kicks off at 10 a.m. with activities such as singing and craft making to entertain the kids.

4. What’s better than bowling? Free bowling, and lets kids bowl free on Tuesdays.

5. And what’s better after a few rounds of free bowling than a free meal for the kids? in Commack feeds kids for free on Tuesdays.
