According to village historian Ken Brady, the Bayles Shipyard Band used to play for a variety of events in Port Jefferson including ship launchings, Friday night dances, receptions, costume parties, and New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Here, the band was photographed in 1919 by Arthur S. Greene on the grounds of the Plant Hotel in Port Jefferson.
