Mayor Garant Declares Snow Emergency Effective Thursday Afternoon

Port Jefferson Village residents bear down for winter storm after major declares snow emergency.

Major Margot Garant made a post on the Port Jefferson website to reassure residents that the village plans on doing its best to keep the snow off the ground as quickly as possible. "Inc. Village of Port Jefferson is prepared for this emergency and the DPW will do its best to stay ahead of the storm and plow the roads when it is safe to do so," said Garant on the website.

To ensure the wellbeing of the village residents, Garant declared a Snow Emergency effective 3:30 pm on Thursday through Friday afternoon. All Government Administrative Offices including Village Hall, will close at 3:30 pm and remain closed on Friday.

"You are strongly advised to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary," said Garant in the post. "This will allow the Village plows and emergency vehicles the ability to clear the streets properly and ensure the safety of the General Public. The Village Code Enforcement Bureau will be out patrolling the Village and enforcing Public Safety."
