After Community Showing, Assistant Principal is Back to Work

About a month after a couple hundred of residents poured into a Rocky Point School Board meeting, many of whom called for the reinstatement of an assistant principal they said was unfairly forced into a medical leave of absence, Joseph Tapler is back to work.


School Board President Michael Nofi confirmed that Tapler was back in his role at Monday night's board of education meeting when it was brought up during the meeting's public portion, and a spokeswoman for the district said the same on Tuesday.

Parking in Port Jeff-There’s an App for That

If you’ve ever had a hair appointment that ran too long or dinner in town where you just wanted to linger a little longer, you may appreciate a new mobile app that will allow you to pay for your parking right from your phone or mobile device.

The app, available through MobileNow!, works with mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets and has been available for parking in Port Jefferson for the past two weeks. Village officials are diligently trying to spread the word.

Smithtown Native Gets Back to Work After Conquering Cancer – Twice

When Smithtown graduate Meredith Jorgensen was first diagnosed with cancer at age 28, in December of 2008, the initial reaction was denial, she recalls.

"It couldn't really be that," she said. "You hear about people having cancer scares. I figured it would be, like, 'Oh, OK. We'll figure it out.' But then it kept getting worse and worse."

Setauket F.D. Planning Mass Casualty Drill at High School

A drill expected to simulate a mass casualty incident will be held at Ward Melville in coming months, though details are still in the works.

According to a Village Times Herald Article, members of the Setauket Fire Department and Three Village School District are coordinating with representatives on the county level as well as in surrounding districts.
