Photos: Menorah Lighting at Brookhaven Town Hall, חנוכה

Small ceremony held at the Brookhaven Town Hall to commemorate the beginning of Hanukkah.

The Menorah was lit on the first night of Hanukkah at the Brookhaven Town Hall on Wednesday. The event commemorates the start of the eight day Jewish holiday.

This year's event was lead by Rabbi Mendy Goldberg, Associate Director of Lubavitch of the East End. A magician entertained the crowd afterwards while people mingled enjoying hot latkes and other refreshments.

On the meaning of Hanukkah, Rabbi Goldberg reflected, "Every single day we add one candle [to the Menorah]. It teaches us that if you did good today, do twice as good tomorrow. Don't be happy with what you've accomplished today. Every single day you have to grow".
