PHOTOS: Superstorm Sandy Before & After One Year Later

Before and after photos of the flooding and preparation for Hurricane Sandy

A year ago today, Superstorm Sandy make landfall flooding all of Port Jefferson Village. Residents weren't prepared for the amount of damage that they saw between the excessive flooding and fallen trees.

Many residents were left powerless as they were unable to get out of their homes. Motorists lined up at gas stations to fill empty tanks. The village became a mini-ocean as boats floated into the street, people swam to safety, and others were left stranded in their homes.

Now, a year later the water is gone and many have spent the time rebuilding all that was lost.

The above gallery reminds us how things were, how they are, and where they will be.
