Port Jefferson Spooktacula Harvest Festival

People, food and plenty of seasonal entertainment took place in the heart of Port Jefferson Village on Saturday for the first "Spooktacula Harvest Festival."

On Oct. 23, Port Jefferson held its first "Spooktacula" Harvest Festival where even pets were invited to take part in the festivities. Local residents came out with friends and family from all over for the fun family activities, food stands and live music. The costumed dog parade seemed to be among the most popular events that included pie eating contests, musicals, hayrides, face painting and a number of haunted building tours in the village. Artists decorated the village with Halloween and harvest themes, adding to the spirit of the season.

Local stores and vendors were flooded with new customers visiting the village for the day's festivities. Clothing shops, art galleries, and boutiques all experienced a higher volume of shoppers along with many restaurants and cafes booming with hungry attendees. By early afternoon, the streets were crowded with people of all ages, many traveling with their dogs in anticipation of the parade.

"I love these types of festivals," one local explained "The music is great! The food is great! I wish we had more of them!"
