Report: Native Plant Suggestions For Your Port Jeff Garden

The Port Jeff village website has a list of plants that are native to the area for your Port Jefferson home's garden.

Among the reasons that the Port Jefferson village website gives for using native plants in your garden are that the plants are better adapted to the local climate, soils and insects so that you don’t need to use as many chemicals to make them grow.

The Port Jefferson High School Environmental Club suggested that the village encourage residents to use native plants like Butterfly Milkweed, Smooth Asters and Black-Eyed Susans to beautify their homes.
