Residents Look to Cash In Grill 454 Certificates

Local diners are upset as they were left holding Grill 454 gift certificates after the Commack steakhouse suddenly closed on New Year's Day.

Grill 454's owners announced Dec. 26, 2012 via Facebook that the upscale Commack restaurant would be closing after its New Year's Eve Party, but not everyone got the message in time.

Fourth Annual Nano Cask Ale Festival is Right Around the Corner

It may only be six months ago that Donavan Hall, Mike Voigt and Yuri Janssen received their New York State microbrewery license for Rocky Point Artisan Brewers, but the trio will soon be holding the Fourth Annual Nano Cask Ale Festival, an homage to small craft brewing operations here on Long Island.

The annual festival first took shape after Hall and Voigt's homebrew club, Long Island Beer & Malt Enthusiasts, held an impromptu get-together after another cask ale festival had been postponed, and packed into what is now RPAB's brewery. About 50 people showed up, and the following winter, more than twice the number of people met at Dek's.

And after that, the trio handed the reigns to an event planner who, for the second year in a row, will be holding the festival at the North Shore Beach Property Owner's Association clubhouse in after last year's sold out. This year's festival takes place on Saturday Jan. 26 from 3 to 7 p.m.

A 10.5 mile length of Route 25A from Mt. Sinai to Wading River will see the effects of the newly implemented 25A Land Use Plan this year after the recent implementation of the project, which was started by Councilwoman Jane Bonner in the fall of 2009.

K60 Japanese Steak House Opens in Lake Grove

K60 is the latest eatery joining the growing ranks of Japanese steak houses in the area.

The restaurant, which grand opened Jan. 6 is owned by sushi chef, San Gao, who has similar restaurants in New Jersey and Connecticut. The eatery takes the place of the Curry Club, in Lake Grove on Middle Country Road.

The bar area is large and boasts two large flat screen televisions and tables for eating. Their is a sushi bar in a separate room off the dining room, which holds several hibachi tables.
