Businesses Trying to Cart Trash Together in Traders Cove
A single vendor may be used for carting in the Traders Cove parking lot.
While the thought of a garbage taxing district had been toyed with in Traders Cove, another solution to cleaning up the collection system in the lot includes using a single vendor who would come multiple times a week.
According to the Port Times Record, the village recently OK'd an agreement with Detail Carting out of Bohemia to restructure and renovate the garbage collection area in the lot, reporting that the company would pick up the tab – as well as settle any outstanding contracts businesses have with their carters – for the future business it would bring in.
At a village board meeting earlier this year, Mayor Margot Garant said the current carting system in Traders Cove is "like a wild, wild west."
