New East Main Store Toast of the Town

After a long dry spell, a liquor store has opened in Port Jefferson Village.

A new store has opened in Port Jefferson Village and it just may be the toast of the town.

Port Jefferson Liquors. located in what was a t-shirt shop this summer, opened on Sept. 27 and so far, the owner said, business is good.

“Everybody coming in said this town needed a liquor store so bad,” said owner, Steve Plunkett. “All the old timers remember the old liquor store on Main Street.”

Plunkett said customers don't have to be concerned that buying liquor in the heart of the village will mean higher prices.

"We will match any competitor's price," he said.

Customers can stop by seven days-a-week. The store, located above Fitness Together on East Main, has hours Mon.-Fri. from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Fri. and Sat from 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 6 p.m.
