Gnomes for the Gym Benefit Auction

Where/When: Lombardi's on the Sound, Friday at 7:30 p.m.

What: Harbor Country Day School is holding a benefit that will feature twenty-five garden Gnomes and nearly three dozen Toadstools imaginatively created by Long Island artisans for auction. Proceeds from the auction will fund a renovation of Harbor’s gym planned for winter 2012/2013. To preview the auction items click here.

Hula-Hoop Contest

Where/When: Twilight Cafe, Friday at 7:30 p.m.

What: Head down to Harbor Square Mall and join in the fun at the new retro-themed Twilight Cafe for a Hula-hoop contest.

A Night of Laughter

Where/When: Mt. Sinai Fire House, 746 Mt. Sinai-Coram Road, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

What: Dinner and a comedy show with five comedians.

Over the Fence Garden Chats

Where/When: Heritage Park, Mount Sinai, Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

What: Join Fred Drewes behind the Heritage Center at the Crop and Farm Machine. Enjoy informal over the fence garden chats. Canceled if rain.

Beauty and the Beast

Where/When: Theatre Three, Saturday at 11 a.m.

What: Children's Theatre at Theatre Three presents Beauty and the Beast, an enchanting story for everyone.

Price: $10 per person.

A Taste of Port Jefferson

Where/When: Port Jefferson Village Center, Saturday from Noon - 4 p.m.

What: Over 30 restaurants will be there offering a taste of what they make. Also, raffles, wines, beer and desserts. This year features a "Pig Roast" from new restaurant La Parrilla. Sponsored by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.

Price: $40 per person in advance and $45 at the door.

Gourmet Hot Sauce Tasting

Where/When: Pepperheads, Saturday at Noon

What: Tom Slosser, chef and hot sauce expert will share his stories and have all his Sauces out for tasting. He usually brings a tasty dish made with his delicious products that will be sure to shake up your taste buds.

Free Beer Tasting

Where/When: Brewtopia, Saturday, 3 - 5 p.m.

What: Free beer tasting of Innis & Gunn from Edinburgh Scotland. A surprise and 10% off all Innis & Gunn purchases.

Complimentary Wine Tasting and Cheese Pairing

Where/When: Vine 2 Wine, Saturday at 3 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m.

What: Vine 2 Wine will host a complimentary wine tasting that will feature Oring Swift Abstract 2010 as well as Javier Sanz Rey Santo Rueda 2011. Tastings will be on Saturday and on Sunday.

Treasure Island

Where/When: Theatre Three, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m.

What: Treasure Island, a musical adventure based on the Robert Louis Stevenson's novel will be at Theatre Three. Click here for our preview of the musical.

Port Jefferson Farmers Market

Where/When: Parking lot in front of Lainie's Way, Sunday at 9 a.m.

What: The market has a full house of vendors this week according to manager Donna McKewon.

Spooktacular Harvest Festival

Where/When: Throughout Port Jefferson village, Sunday from Noon to dusk.

What: Annual Harvest Festival in Port Jefferson. Activities include seasonal costumed characters and musical performances throughout the Village, 100+ Costumed Dog Parade, Marshmallow Roast, Scarecrow Walk, Classic Car Exhibit, Pumpkin Decorating and other craft projects. Participate in the Village restaurants’ Annual Chowder Tasting Competition.
