Who Should Bail Out This Former Bank Spot? [Empty in Port Jefferson]

Empty bank on West Broadway remains vacant and off the market.

This former bank needs help. It sits right in the Brookhaven Town docks parking lot, adjacent to the Port Jefferson Ferry at 116 West Main Street, and remains vacant and boarded up with seemingly no prospects in sight.

It borders the Town’s war memorial park on the west and is neighbor to the building on the east side.

The 2,000 square foot brick house still looks to be in decent shape from the outside but it has seen better days and hasn’t been occupied for a long while. According to LoopNet.com, the property offers fenced in off-street parking and taxes will run about $2,500 per year.

A street view photo of the building on Google Maps shows that the building was once listed with Jack O’Connor at Newmark Knight Frank but the sign is gone and according to LoopNet.com the property is off the market.

Assuming no one has snatched it up already, who do you think should buy the property? The village may not need another but what would you like to see in that spot?
