LIRR Spokesperson: No Cancellations in AM Rush on Port Jeff Line

The Long Island Rail Road says that there will be some cancellations in the morning on Tuesday systemwide but Port Jeff will not be affected.

A Long Island Rail Road spokesperson said that there will not be any changes or cancellations on the Port Jefferson line for the morning rush hour on Tuesday after an Amtrak train derailment caused major delays and cancellations on Monday.

The LIRR is reporting that there may be scattered 10 to 20 minute delays on all rail lines.

In the aftermath of the derailment in the East River tunnel, rush hour service was "significantly affected" on the LIRR on Monday evening, causing the rail road to suspend service westbound into Penn Station temporarily, though traffic has been restored in both directions.
