New LIRR Timetables in Effect Today

Scheduled changes for annual track work to begin May 16.

The Long Island Rail Road has announced that as of Monday, May 16, there will be schedule adjustments due to the railroad’s warm weather maintenance program. Most of the changes will not affect regular commuters during rush hour.

“As always, the bulk of the work is scheduled for off-peak periods, such as midday during the week and on weekends,” a statement by the LIRR said.

For customers who use the Port Jefferson line during midday weekdays and early Saturday mornings one of the two tracks will be out of service between Merillon Ave. and Carle Place while the rail road replaces track ties and performs a switch surfacing program. The timetable has been adjusted up to 13 minutes to accommodate this work.
