Cuomo Proposes Big Boost in Aid to Rocky Point Schools
While state aid numbers show that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposed budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year show a relatively big boost in aid to Rocky Point School District, the impact on the district's budget remains unclear as district administrators continue to discuss revenue projections for the upcoming school year.
According to numbers released by Cuomo's office, RPSD is in line for a 7.3 percent increase in state aid, or $1.67 million more than last year. The district, numbers show, would receive $24.5 million next year over last year's total of $22.8 million.
Superintendent: Smithtown Schools Didn't Expect State Aid Cut
While many factors have the Smithtown Central School District facing 2013-14 budgeting difficulties, Superintendent Anthony Annunziato said the unexpected reduction in state aid is the biggest blow to date.
The district is budgeted to receive $37.7 million in state aid in 2013-14, compared to the actual amount Annunziato said Smithtown schools received for the 2012-13 school year of $38.3 million, resulting in a reduction of roughly $630,000.
New Chairman for Nissequogue River State Park Foundation
Kings Park local John Mcquaid will take the place of chairman Mike Rosato for the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation.
The foundation, according to its website, is a not-for-profit organization committed to protecting and preserving the park’s historical and environmental assets.
