i went to the greek festival last night and every year is the same exact vendors, and same exact rides, same food menu, i do love the festival but i really wish they would get more vendors its like the movie ground hog day , if you went once no need to go again :(
THE SOCIAL WORKER August 24, 2012 at 03:55 PM
The traffic in the area is grid lock. I avoid it yearly.

We went to the Greek festival last night. $25 POP for the rides was outrageous also. No where is it posted on any web sites except the $2 entrance fee. I feel like I got sand bagged because I was not prepared to fork over that much money. Tough to tell the boy that we can't afford that. At least the terryville fire department carnival was a $15 fee and kids 3 and under were free and there were twice as many rides. Am I wrong on this?

No..! You are completely RIGHT. All of these "festivals" have gotten out of hand with the costs. They rely on FAMILIES for business, but don't give them a break! Pretty soon, they'll all just fade away...scratching their heads, "what happened(?), we just don't know what went wrong". WELL, over charging families for too many years is not a good/nice thing to do. We know it costs to put these things on, just wish they would cost less. I do not direct this at this specific festival, but ALL festivals that have gotten too costly for most of us who would like to attend.

Maybe some of the cost is that they need to obtain muli-million-dollar insurance coverage for these events? Somebdy's ice is too cold or the merry-go-round went clockwise instead of the expected counter-clockwise, and restitution must be made. However, I agree with The Social Worker (above): it is the traffic/parking that keeps me away from many events.

Ok then why is it $15 POP at terryville fireman carnival for 25 rides and $25 at the Greek church for 9 rides. The insurance rider would be the same. My point is post the price on the web site.
