Mayor Margot Garant has sent out multiple messages telling people to stay off the roads in Port Jefferson village.
"Downtown needs to stay closed until we can get roads open for emergency purposes," she told Patch by text message on Saturday morning while she was out touring the village.
She noted that sidewalks were piled "five feet high with snow."
