Watch: Main Street in Port Jefferson After the Blizzard

Video of downtown from Mayor Margot Garant.

Mayor Margot Garant has sent out multiple messages telling people to stay off the roads in Port Jefferson village.

"Downtown needs to stay closed until we can get roads open for emergency purposes," she told Patch by text message on Saturday morning while she was out touring the village.

She noted that sidewalks were piled "five feet high with snow."

Watch this video she sent to Patch while driving around assessing the after effects of the blizzard.

Does ANYONE know if the PJV/BID sidewalk cleaning has been done on Main St?....The last report I manage to get from my son who drove thru the area to work, was that the street plowed snow was pushed onto the sidewalks making walls of snow in the 4ft range... Since the major has closed the town, will citations be issued for businesses who do not have the snow removed (as per code) 4 hours after the end of the snow?
