The Long Island Museum’s Carriage Collection: A National Treasure in Your Backyard

Come learn about a world of transportation before cars! One of the planet’s best horse-drawn vehicle collections—in any museum, anywhere—is on view just a few short miles away, in Stony Brook, at the Long Island Museum. This 45-minute lecture with slides, presented by the museum’s chief curator, Joshua Ruff, explores highlights of the museum’s carriage collection, examines how the collection was assembled, and details the recently completed reinstallation of the museum’s carriage galleries. It will be like taking a virtual tour through the museum.
