Celebrate the Season by Giving

Port Jefferson Library is accepting toys for the Toys for Tots program.

The Children's Department of the Port Jefferson Free Library is preparing for the upcoming Holiday Season in the usual ways: festively decorating our rooms, creating displays of appropriate materials, and planning programs to help our young patrons get into the Holiday spirit.

Another aspect of preparation involves giving to others less fortunate than ourselves.  We are accepting new, unwrapped toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. In addition, the tree in our Department is being decorated with gently used or new gloves, mittens, hats and scarves to be donated to local families in need. Patrons who donate an item can decorate a paper mitten to represent their gift. That way, the tree will remain "dressed" even when the knitted items are gone.

So, head on into the Children's Department to view our beautiful tree and help warm some local hands and hearts.
