Middle School STEM Club Highlighted

On March 11, the Port Jefferson Middle School STEM Club, along with technology teacher and club adviser Robert Dunlop, was recognized at the community meeting of the Port Jefferson Board of Education. Port Jefferson Middle School Principal Antonio Santana spoke to attendees about the wonderful efforts of the group that combines robotics with science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“These students are so enthusiastic about their work and embrace challenge,” said Santana. “They are a remarkable bunch who will surely serve as wonderful mentors for future STEM Club participants.”

Currently, the group is working on computer programming. “This club creates a foundation for our high school robotics and Science Olympiad teams,” said Santana. “The more these students compete and think scientifically, the better they will become.”
