Car Fire Torches Camaro

A car went up in flames Monday afternoon, though no injuries were reported.

A Chevrolet Camaro went up in flames Monday afternoon at the Sunoco station in Port Jefferson Station, stopping the pumps for a little while, shutting a portion of Norwood Avenue, and prompting a response from the Terryville Fire Department.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, though no injuries were reported. The car's owner declined to comment.

Police on scene said the call came in at 4:45 p.m. The fire was put out, the pumps were turned on and the street opened up within a half hour.
