Crime Report: 3 Arrested For Drug Possession at LIRR Station

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department or town police and does not indicate a conviction.

Joel Almanzar, 27, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested at his home on Winston Lane in Port Jefferson Station on May 3 at about 9:38 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a handgun.

Three people were arrested at the Port Jefferson Station on May 3 at about 7:20 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. All of them were found sitting in a 2011 Audi. Kristie Cleary, 21, of East Setauket, was charged with possessing cocaine and pills not prescribed to her. William Marciano, 34, of Port Jefferson Station was charged with possessing pills not prescribed to him. Corey Manning, 24, of Poquott, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, was charged with possessing cocaine and pills not prescribed to him.

On May 7, someone called police at 9 p.m. to say that rims and tires were stolen from his car while parked on George Street in Port Jefferson Station.

Michael Perten, 56, of Centereach, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on May 8 in the Sunoco on Jayne Blvd. in Port Jefferson Station and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

On May 9 at 9:15 a.m. someone from an office located at 234 East Main Street in Port Jefferson called police to complain that an unknown person forced the street level and upstairs doors open. Nothing was stolen but the door jam and locks were damaged.

John Cook, 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested at 4:55 p.m. May 10 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with possession of a hypodermic needle.

Ian Goldwasser, 19, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested May 10 in Selden and charged with petty larceny. Goldwasser allegedly took a high-lift bumper jack off a 1992 Jeep Wrangler.

Richard Wersan, 24, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested May 10 in Mt. Sinai and charged with second degree burglary. Wersan allegedly broke into a home and stole cash. Police said Wersan used a ladder, climbed onto the roof, cut a screen in the master bedroom bathroom and entered the house.

Ronald Hughes Jr., 43, of Farmingville, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on May 11 in Port Jefferson and charged with criminal sale of a firearm. Police say that Hughes allegedly sold a pistol for money on Nesconset Highway.

On May 11 at 8 p.m. an intoxicated homeless man complained to police that he was punched in face by a black male while he was on Cherub Lane in Port Jefferson Station.

A 16-year-old boy, of Port Jeff Station, was arrested May 12 in Mt. Sinai and charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon. The teen allegedly threw glass at another person, hitting them in the neck and causing lacerations that needed stitches.

On May 12 at 10:30 p.m., someone from Asian Legend on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station called police to complain he was being harassed. An unknown male called the business 10 times from private number making numerous food orders. The caller also made racial remarks on the phone.
