Crime Report: 6 Charged with Driving Under the Influence

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Paul Antonson, 28, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested June 23 in Bay Shore and charged with DWI and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors. Police pulled him over after he allegedly failed to stay in his lane and crashed into a guard rail at 2:15 a.m. on Fifth Avenue near Sunrise Highway.

Hugo Mendoza, 18, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested June 23 in Terryville and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police pulled him over after he allegedly failed to stay in his lane and blew a stop sign at Bedford Lane and Magnolia Drive.

Thomas Lehrer, 20, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested June 25 in Ridge and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Police pulled him over after he allegedly failed to stay in his lane while driving on William Floyd Parkway at around 2 a.m.

Joseph Berendowski, 24, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested June 26 in Miller Place and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Police said he failed to stay in his lane while driving on Route 25A near Panther Path at about 2 a.m. Berendowski was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, though police did not disclose the substance he allegedly had in his possession.

Suffolk police arrested a 37-year-old Mt. Sinai man whom they say was driving while ability impaired by drugs on Nicolls Road in Holtsville on June 27. The man was observed talking on a cellphone and swerving at 8:25 p.m.

Michael Friedmann, 26, of Sound Beach, was arrested June 29 in Port Jefferson and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police arrested him at 12:30 a.m. after they pulled him over on Main Street at Linden Place for an undisclosed traffic infraction.
