Crime Report: DWI Charge, Controlled Substance Charges, and Leaving the Scene of Auto Accident

A blotter of the latest arrests and incidents in Port Jefferson

Suffolk County Police Department Sixth Precinct reported these incidental arrests in Port Jefferson and Port Jefferson Station during Jan. 2—9: 

Paul Armato, 21, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Jan. 6 in Mount Sinai and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Armato was arrested on Hallock Avenue in Mount Sinai after driving his 2000 Ford while intoxicated. 

Frank G. Kowalski III, 34, of Sound Beach was arrested Jan. 6 in Port Jefferson and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.   Reports state at approximately 10:40 p.m. Kowalski was arrested on Linden Place in Port Jefferson Station after possession an illegal controlled substance in his parked 2009 Chevrolette.

Andwii Nunez, 31, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Jan. 6 in Port Jefferson and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Reports state Nunez was arrested on Linden Place in Port Jefferson Station after throwing a controlled substance on the ground. 

Christian Dilone, 26, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Jan. 5 in Mount Sinai and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, loaded firearm, and reckless endangerment of a motor vehicle. Reports state Dilone was arrested at the sixth precinct after he engaged in conduct that created risks to another person.  Reports state at approximately 12:10 p.m. shots from a hand gun were fired by Dilone on Griffin Dr. in Mount Sinai.

Peter Scimeca, 51, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Jan. 5 in Selden and charged with assault.  Reports state Scimeca was arrested at the sixth precinct after he alledgedly attacked a female victim with a baton. Reports also state the baton caused injury to the victims face which required medical attention.   

Dais Deale, 22, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Jan. 4 in East Setauket and charged with petit larceny. Reports state at approximately 1 a.m., Deale wrongfully took cash from a drawer at 3990 Route 347 in Setauket. 

Walter Fabrizio, 51, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Jan. 4 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.  Reports state at approximately 11:40 a.m. Fabrizio was operating his 1995 Chevrolette when he struck a 2000 Honda mini-van in a parking lot on Route 25 in Centereach.  Reports state Fabrizio left the scene without leaving any insurance information and caused damage to property. 

Daniel Marotta, 26, of Centereach was arrested Jan. 3 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Reports state at approximately 11:50 p.m. Marotta was operating his 1998 Chevrolette Trail Blazer when a strong odor of marijuana came from the vehicle upon being stopped. 

Allison Merola, 46, of Port Jefferson was arrested Jan. 2 in Selden and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state Merola was in the possession of a controlled substance in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts located on Route 25 in Selden while seated in is 1993 BMW.

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed above. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  If any of the above charges have been acquitted, in order for removal from publication, one must write the writer and provide proof of dismissal.
