Crimes Nearby: A Telephone Thrown, Handguns Gone and Cyclists with Drugs

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department or village police and does not indicate a conviction.

Police reported the following arrests in areas around Port Jefferson:

Three Village

Fong Kwok, 24, of Lake Grove, was arrested Sept. 18 in Stony Brook and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Kwok was arrested for the alleged possession of suboxone on Jefferson Ave. at approximately 5:35 p.m.

Smithtown

James Smith, 34, of St. James was arrested Sept. 19 in St. James and charged with fourth degree criminal mischief. Smith was arrested for allegedly damaging a file cabinet located in a residence on Woodlawn Ave. Reports indicate he also allegedly threw a telephone across the room. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. according to reports.

Marianne Eagler, 33, of Lake Ronkonkoma was arrested Sept. 14 in Smithtown and charged with third degree grand larceny. Eagler was arrested for the alleged jewelry theft from a known female’s bedroom. Reports indicate she later pawned the items.

Miller Place-Rocky Point

Sylvia Hurst, 61, of Bay Shore was arrested Sept. 16 in Rocky Point and charged with second degree criminal contempt. Hurst allegedly violated an order of protection.

Ryan McNeill, 28, of Rocky Point was arrested Sept. 15 in Rocky Point and charged with second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Reports indicate McNeill was arrested for the allegedly operating a 1994 Ford Explorer without a license on Hawthorne Ave., at approximately 3:50 p.m.

Riverhead

An unknown suspect or suspects stole two handguns from a bedside table drawer at a house on Ostrander Avenue on Sept. 21. Police said they responded to a man who lives at the home who said a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol and a .22 caliber Jennings pistol were taken from his drawer. The man said nothing else was disturbed from the residence, according to a police report. Police are investigating the incident.

Two cyclists were arrested in Flanders and Riverside on Monday and charged with possession of illegal drugs in two unrelated incidents, according to Southampton Police.

At about 7:00 p.m., police said they saw Brian Kizielewicz, age 29, riding his bike "in an erratic manner" on Flanders Road. Police stopped Kizielewicz and found he was under the influence of an unknown drug. He was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana, PCP, and heroin.

Kizielewicz was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal
possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, one count of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation and one count of appearing in public under the influence of other than alcohol.

Kizielewicz was the second cyclist police said was found with drugs on Monday. Police stopped Shawanna James, 39, of Riverhead at about 3:00 a.m. for not having front or back lights on her bike. When police stopped James, she said she had a crack pipe in her purse, according to a police report. Police said they then found crack cocaine in a Mentos container.

James was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
