Crimes Nearby: Rocky Point Nabbed For Selling Stolen Jewelry

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department or town police and does not indicate a conviction.

Rocky Point

Timothy Vona, 21, of Rocky Point, was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of stolen property: property value greater than $3,000 and two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property: property value greater than $1,000. He allegedly tried to pawn stolen jewelry at CP’s Gold Rush in Rocky Point on or about Dec. 7, Dec. 10, and Dec. 15, and at in Rocky Point on or about Dec. 18.

A 16-year-old minor, of Miller Place, was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was found to be in possession of a stolen iPod from a house on Wabil Road.

A 16-year-old minor, of Miller Place, was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with two counts of petty larceny. He allegedly took a BMX bike from a shed and auto parts for a 2002 Ford Ranger from two separate places in Miller Place.

East Setauket

Michael Cinarella, 43, of East Setauket, was arrested Jan. 15 at about 12:00 p.m. and charged with first-degree operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. He was traveling on Lower Sheep Pasture Road in a 2009 GMC when he reportedly crashed into another car and fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, he crossed over a center line, nearly hitting a police car head-on and causing the officer to swerve off the road to avoid a collision, according to a report.

Smithtown

Shandi Groom, 25, of Centereach was arrested Jan. 17 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. Groom is accused of stealing clothing and sneakers from Macy's at the Smith Haven Mall.

Christopher Capolino, 22, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 14 in Smithtown and charged with seventh degree possession of a controlled substance. Capolino was in the parking lot of Avalon Gardens when he was approached by police and allegedly found to be in possession of an illegal substance.

Pat Toomey, 29, of St. James was arrested Jan. 12 in St. James and charged with second degree menacing. Toomey is accused of holding a knife to another person on Main Street in Smithtown on Dec. 31 and making a demand.
