Crimes Nearby: Bank Robber and Video Camera Thief Both Caught

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department or village police and does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County police reported the following arrests:

Sound Beach

Paul Corpas-Reyes, 23, of Sound Beach was arrested and charged with DWI as the alleged drunken driver of a small sedan involved in a two-car crash early Tuesday morning. Two passengers were seriously injured in the crash.

Rocky Point

Nicholas Salerno, 21, of Rocky Point was arrested Sept. 5 in Setauket and charged with first offense DWI. Reports indicate Salerno was arrested for allegedly operating a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee at Route 347 and Route 25A while intoxicated. The incident occurred at approximately 2:07 a.m.

Michael McDonald, 29, of Rocky Point was arrested Sept. 5 in Mastic Beach and charged with petty larceny. Reports indicate McDonald was arrested for the alleged video camera theft from at 8 Broadway in Rocky Point on June 22.

Riverhead

Rodney Riddick, 32, of Riverhead, was arrested on Aug. 31 and charged with criminal obstruction of breath or blood circulation in regards to an incident on Aug. 29. Police said Riddick was involved in a domestic dispute, when choked the female victim and punched her in the face. Riddick then allegedly threw a telephone at the victim after she attempted to call police, according to police reports. By the time police arrived at the location on Aug. 29, Riddick had left the premises. Riddick was arrested two days later. He was transported to police headquarters and released on his own recognizance.

Oscar Lopez, 27, of Peconic, was arrested on Sept. 5 and found to be driving without a license according to police reports. Lopez was released on $300 bail and issued summons.

Police said that an unknown woman allegedly stole 10 bottles of Enfamil Premium from the Target on Route 58. The woman, reportedly about 60 years old with short brown hair, stole $249 worth of the product sometime between Aug. 22 and Sept. 5

Three Village

James Kosin, 42, is suspected of robbing three banks in the past week, including on Monday, Bank of America in Dix Hills on Sept. 10, and Bethpage Federal Credit Union in North Babylon on Sept. 9. He also allegedly robbed and made verbal threats at a TCBY in Commack on Sept. 11. Kosin was arrested by Major Case Investigations Unit detectives at Abbey Motel in Huntington Station at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mathew Dymski, 21, of Lake Grove, was arrested Sept. 7 in Setauket and charged with DWI. Reports indicate Dymski was allegedly driving a 2004 Ford Explorer while intoxicated. Police said he was involved in a crash on Route 25A in Setauket at approximately 12:28 a.m.

Vincent Arneo, 21, of St. James, was arrested Sept. 4 in Stony Brook and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports indicate Arneo was arrested for alleged heroin possession at Lake Ave.

Sarah Holzhauser, 33, of South Setauket, was arrested Sept. 2 in Setauket and charged with petty larceny. Reports indicate Holzhauser allegedly stole merchandise including stockings and men’s apparel, concealed in her handbag at Walmart. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m.

Smithtown

Gerul Mustafa, 41, of Shirley was arrested Aug. 30 in Smithtown and charged with impersonation. Reports indicate Mustafa was arrested for the alleged operation of a 2001 BMW while intoxicated in Ronkonkoma at approximately 1:32 a.m. Reports also state upon Mustafa’s arrest, a false name was given to police officers.

Hauppauge

Tarik Nicolas, 25, of Hauppauge, was arrested in Smithtown Sept. 3 at 2:15 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated. Police said Nicolas was observed driving a 2002 Mercedes Benz when he failed to maintain his lane. Police pulled Nicolas over on Terry Road and, after failing a field sobriety test, arrested him.

Kerry Chelis Nieves, 21, of Central Islip was arrested in Nesconset on Sept. 3 at 4:30 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated. Police said Nieves was driving a 2008 Infinity when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Police said she swerved off the road and hit into a tree.
