Detective: Port Jeff Station Man Denies Murder, Admits Mutilation

Evans Ganthier allegedly admits to cutting up, mutilating woman's body after death.

A Port Jefferson Station man denied stabbing a woman, but admitted to mutilating her body after death.

Evans Ganthier, 30, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Rebecca Kosher of Copiague on the night of Dec. 13, 2009. A police detective testifying during a pre-trial hearing say Ganthier denied stabbing her, but admitted to cutting off body parts and setting Kosher's body on fire after her death, reports Newsday.

Detective Philip Frendo testified in state Supreme Court Ganthier said Koster  tripped on 50-pound dumbbells in his garage, hit her head and later died in route to the hospital. He then cut off identifying parts of Koster's body and took the Port Jeff Ferry into Connecticut to dispose of it.
