Lindy’s Taxi Driver Dies in Port Jefferson Station Crash

Police investigating accident on Colgate Street.

A cab driver is dead after his taxi crashed into another car on Colgate Street in Port Jefferson Station on Friday night.

At about 7:52 p.m. police say that a Lindy’s taxi cab driven by 33-year old Jason Adams, of Ridge, hit another vehicle that was parked in a driveway in the Port Jefferson Station neighborhood off of Old Town Road. The car parked in the driveway at 10 Colgate Street was pushed into another vehicle parked inside a garage at the home, according to a police report.

Officer removed Adams from the taxi, giving him medical help until he was transported by Terryville Fire Department to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are still investigating the cause of the crash but said that Adams, who lives on Randall Road in Ridge, may have “experienced a medical event that resulted in the crash.”

No one else was involved in the accident and the taxi was impounded for a safety inspection.

A dispatcher at Lindy’ Taxi company said he could not comment on the accident.
