Officers spotted man who they say had multiple DWI convictions blowing a red light on Route 83.

A 53-year old Lake Ronkonkoma man who, according to police, has had his license suspended 23 times and was driving with a license already revoked for multiple DWI-offenses, was arrested on DWI charges after Suffolk County Police pulled him over in Mount Sinai early Thursday morning.

At about 1:45 a.m., Steven Turner, from the Suffolk County Police Safe-T Section, said he saw a 1994 Chevrolet pick-up truck making a left turn through a red light at the intersection of Route 83 and Coram-Mt. Sinai Road and then driving erratically in the westbound lane of Route 25A.

After he was pulled over, police said they discovered that Kurt A. Knoernschild had his driving privileges revoked from previous DWI convictions along with 23 other suspensions on his license. He was charged with DWI and operating a motor vehicle without a license, both felonies.
