Police Searching for Burglar Who Hit Local Businesses

A man broke into several businesses and stole cash, police said Thursday.

Police are searching for a man who burglarized multiple businesses in Port Jefferson Station and Setauket in July.

Police described the suspect as a white man in his early 40s with thick dark hair and a dark mustache, and said he was wearing a loose t-shirt and sweatpants. The burglaries, in which the man stole money from cash registers, took place between July 13 and July 14.

A police spokesperson did not release the names of the businesses involved but said they are located on Route 347.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS; all calls are kept confidential. A reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
