Police: Truck Smashed into Port Jefferson Station Auto Shop

No injuries but police report two cars and part of the building damaged.

Police are investigating an incident that occurred on Saturday morning at Family Automotive, a repair shop on Hallock Avenue in Port Jefferson Station after someone entered the lot and somehow started a truck that smashed into another car on a lift inside the garage. There was also damage to the building.

At about 7 a.m. someone called police to report the unusual incident but there was no description of any suspects. It was unclear if anyone witnessed the incident. As of Saturday afternoon, multiple crime scene vans were still on the scene.

A person who answered the phone at Family Automotive had no comment and said to call back later.

No arrests have been made so far. Sixth Precinct Detectives are investigating the incident as a felony criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to a police spokesperson.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Sixth Precinct Detectives at (631) 854-8652 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
