D'Abramo Sworn in as New Trustee in Port Jeff

Replaced James Burke who resigned last month.

On Monday evening Port Jefferson got , a former project manager for Long Island school districts who has municipal experience having worked at the towns of Brookhaven and Babylon as environmental facilities manager. He is also no stranger to village government serving on the Architectural Review Committee since 2007.

D'Abramo was sworn at  replacing when he took a new job in the New York State Attorney General’s office in October.

Mayor Margot Garant said that since no one ran for any of the trustee seats last election, there were no alternates to pick from and she drew from a pool of volunteers.

D'Abramo, a Port Jefferson village resident since 2002, threw his hat in the ring after reading about the vacancy in the newspaper. Several others also made Garant’s short list, another of whom had worked with the village board before on a committee.

It was his experience working with municipalities and the fact that he had been on the ARC that made Garant chose D'Abramo to sit on the board of trustees where he will take over Burke’s former committees including the master plan to revitalize upper Port Jefferson.
