PHOTO: Legislator Honors Port Jefferson Soccer Team

After winning the New York State championships, the Royals soccer team were recognized by Legis. Kara Hahn.

Legis. Kara Hahn gave a proclamation and certificates to the Port Jefferson boys soccer team and their coach John Poulianos at the Suffolk County Legislature Building in Hauppauge. The team went undefeated and placed first in New York State’s Class C Division for the second year in a row.

According to a statement released by the school, friends and family were there to support the team as they were "commended for its display of sportsmanship, athleticism, strength, determination and perseverance throughout the season."

That's not the end of the accolades. The school said that the team was invited by Sen. Ken LaValle the New York State Senate in Albany this January to receive a proclamation.
