Port Jefferson Library Thanks Senator LaValle For Additional Aide

Extra money will go toward technology enhancements.

Librarians in state Sen. Ken LaValle’s district came together to thank him for getting additional aide for librarians in the budget this year and for his participation on the State Senate Committee on Libraries.

In a statement the said they were "grateful to Senator LaValle for securing state aid for the Libraries in his district."

Port Jefferson received an extra $2,200 in state aide this year.

"That pretty much doubled [our state aide]," said Library Director Robert Goykin, who said this year the library received about $2,500 initially.

The extra money will be used to enhance the library’s technology.

While it wasn’t nearly as much as school districts are used to getting or , Goykin said that the library was appreciative of any extra money it can get.
