Parents as Reading Partners Program a Success at Elementary School

New program encourages elementary students to take reading outside of the classroom and into the home.

The goal of the Parents As Reading Partners is to promote a love of reading between parents and children. Terryville kicked off their month of PARP with an exciting in school assembly called "Singable Stories" presented by "Beth and Scott", a sought-after musical performance duet who have won the prestigious Parent Choice Award.

During PARP Terryville students will also participate in a book swap and enjoy a "Mystery Reader Week" with the Terryville faculty and staff.

April Victor, principal of the elementary school, said the program went off without a hitch and helps students to feel more comfortable reading "at home each day with their parent/guardian, older sibling, or grandparent."
