PHOTO: Tuba Players From Port Jefferson Rock at the Rock in NYC

On Sunday, local students joined 470 other musicians at the annual Tuba Christmas at Rockefeller Center.

On Sunday, Port Jefferson Middle School students Grant Calendrille and Paul Penske traveled with their band teacher Christine Creighton to New York City to join with 470 tuba, euphonium and baritone players from across the country at Tuba Christmas, an annual musical event in Rockefeller Center, according to a statement released by the school district. Players in this year's Tuba Christmas ranged from ages 10 to 87 and was conducted by Christian Wilhelm, former conductor of the Goldman Memorial Band.
