Port Jeff Assistant Super for Business Leaves for Levittown District

Mark Flower, the Assistant Superintendent for Business in Port Jefferson resigned from the on Tuesday and is heading to Levittown School District.

that during a special Levittown School Board meeting on Tuesday night Flower was approved to become the district's new Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance. He was introduced at the special meeting, which was called for just hours before the board's regularly scheduled planning session.

After the meeting, Flower acknowledged that he enters the district during a time where a pending could complicate budget plans. But he is ready for the challenge.

"It's a very exciting opportunity," he said. "I think there are a lot of opportunities for both continuing the quality education that's here within the Levittown school district [while] also looking for opportunities to control the costs."

Port Jefferson's Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Bossert acknowledged Flower's resignation in a on Thursday thanking him for his work in the district.

Bossert also said that the district has started its search for a new candidate to fill Flower's position.

This is the third administrator to leave the Port Jefferson since the school year ended in June. Last month Elementary School Principal Ted Mockrish as did . The board decided not to replace Rianna but is still looking for a replacement for Mockrish.

Flower's last day in Port Jefferson will be August 26. According to Bossert, his resignation will be formally accepted by the school board at the August 9 public meeting.
