A student from Port Jefferson School District scored in the top five percent for a national math competition.
Jefferson Koutsantanou was one of 44 eighth graders from the district to take part in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC), a rigorous 25-question test taken by over 150,000 students in the United States, sccording to a statement released by the district. To qualify for the contest, selected accelerated students had to be enrolled in the school’s Integrated Algebra course.
