Shanti Fund Award For Peace Themed Art Goes to Port Jeff Student

Fifth grader won first place in the Shanti Fund art competition.

Katie Ambrozy, a fifth grader from in Port Jefferson won first place in an art competition sponsored by the Shanti Fund for her piece that best depicted this year's theme of peace and love.

The Shanti Fund is a charitable group dedicated to promoting Mahatma Gandhi's ideals and his philosophy of peace.

Out of the 22 districts to submit student work, Ambrozy’s got the top prize, an award certificate presented to her by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy during a ceremony at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge and a gift certificate for $142, Gandhi’s age if he were alive today.
