Student Achieves Third-Place Finish in National History Bee

Student at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School competed against 31 other students in the event.

A fourth-grade student at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School has achieved a national honor: Lucas Welinder has placed third in a nationwide history competition.

Lucas tested his knowledge of history against 31 other students nationwide who qualified for the national level of a history bee. Questions spanned both world history and American history and were based on history and Common Core Standards curricula. 

Lucas is a student in Kristen Boney’s class and a SEAL student in Paige Lohmann and Kimberly Pelkonen’s class, recently placed third at a national competition.
