Students Loom Bracelets Give Cancer Patients Hope

Over 70 loom bracelets gets donated to local hospitals for cancer patients

Port Jefferson Middle School Students, specifically fourth and fifth graders, decided to put their skills to the test for Breast Cancer. After school, the students began making rainbow loom bracelets for local breast cancer patients as a gift of hope.

Elementary school teachers Deanna Lilimpakis and Kristen Poulos worked together to organize the event and helped the students make over 70 bracelets.

“We wanted to take the popularity of the loom bracelets with students and use it to do something special,” said Lilimpakis on the district's website. “Kristen and I knew that the kids would have a great time together, especially if they knew they were looming for a good cause, and we were right.”

All of the completed bracelets were split up between Stony Brook University Hospotal, Fortunato Breast Health Center at Mather Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
