Two Port Jeff Kids Graduate With a Global Class of Seniors

In May, The Stony Brook School held its eighty-ninth Commencement exercises and two Port Jefferson kids were among the 69 graduating seniors from all over the world, including eight U.S. states, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jamaica, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Tanzania.

Brannon Burke from Port Jefferson was an all-state basketball player and chaplain prefect while attending school. She also was on the track and soccer teams. In February, Burke was chosen as when she scored her 1000th career point for the school’s basketball team, becoming only the fifth girl to do so. In the fall Burke will head off to Wheaton College in Illinois.

Luke Benjamin Paige, also from Port Jefferson, was a star of the Theatrical Arts Society production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and was on the track team. Paige will be going to City College of New York in September.

The graduation ceremony began and ended with a procession through the campus, led by the pipes and snare, according to a statement describing the event released by the school. The commencement address was given by Dr. William Edgar, professor of apologetics at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.

Leading up to graduation there were awards programs, the senior prom, and baccalaureate with a sermon was given by Dr. Philip Graham Ryken, president of Wheaton College, the school Burke will attend in the fall.
